Last night I took a yoga class with Janae and Heather and was reminded why runners should do yoga. The muscles I work when I run were so tight!!
It was easy to do yoga regularly when I taught a class or two each week, but I wasn't a runner then so I didn't fully appreciate the benefits from a runner's point of view. I may not make it to an actual class (I don't love the gym, but that's a whole post of its own) regularly, but I will be adding some yoga to my weekly workouts from now on.
You can find more about the benefits of yoga for runners HERE.
And of course a yoga night wouldn't be complete without froyo after! I added some fruit this time to make myself feel like it was a little bit healthy.
Speaking of healthy...you can find my favorite smoothie recipe on Runnerd.com today!!!
Do you like doing yoga?
More importantly, how do you feel about working out at the gym?
I have seriously mixed feelings when it comes to the gym. There is a total love/hate relationship. I think it comes down to the gym and what the atmosphere is like. I am super self-conscious! I have never really tried yoga but I think I might like it.
ReplyDeleteI think you would love yoga too!!
DeleteI love power yoga. I try to do it weekly. I like the gym. I like pump and spin when I can't go riding (like at 5am) but would rather be outside.
ReplyDeletePower yoga is my favorite class at the gym!
DeleteI love yoga when I actually do it (which isn't often enough). I'm a cardio junkie, but really should do more yoga...according to my blood type. Anyway, yes, love the gym too but I no longer go. My favorite is Lifetime Fitness...SO in love with that place, but since we're about to start dental school I workout at home. Gotta save $. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a cardio junkie too. It's hard for me to spend an hour doing yoga if I have to choose between that or cardio!
DeleteGood luck with dental school!
I love yoga! I always feel so alive and present after each class
