...for writing that song, because "I feel good!" That was the song going through my head at the end of my Tuesday run last week, even though it isn't on my iPod. After missing my Monday run last week, I really put everything into making the most of Tuesday's. Even with company in town part of the week and one run that didn't even begin until 9 pm, my running week was pretty good. I don't know if it's because it is summer and there is more going on, or if it is just the way life is, but I am still having a hard time getting in five days of running. I felt a little better about my consistent four days of running each week after reading the beginner's marathon training information in Runner's World that says to run four days with three rest days. How many days a week did you run to train for your first marathon?
After two lame, pathetic, lackluster weeks of running, I woke up excited to run yesterday. And today, I wore my running clothes all morning in anticipation of my nap time run today. Even in spite of sore glutes and tired quads from getting in some P90X Core Synergistics last night, I couldn't wait to get moving on Millie. I am a planner. Today I had a plan to get my run in while my girls slept, and my day was organized accordingly. I am also a creature of habit. The first thing I do when I roll out of bed every single day is make my bed and my girls' beds. If I do something else first, it throws off the entire morning. I am a creature of habit when it comes to my running routines as well. There are a few things that differ depending on whether I am running on Millie or outside, whether my girls are asleep or not, and whether or not they are joining me in the jogger. Yet, no matter when, where, how far or with whom I run, some things are always the same. My hair goes into a pony
I ran 4 days a week training for my first Marathon because fitting in more days was tough. For any future races I will TRY to do 5 on weeks when I have time. Glad you "Feel good!"
ReplyDeleteFYI...fun Giveaway on my Blog today. Have a great weekend!
I think I did five, but I've heard of folks running fewer days. And there's the FIRST training program (http://www.furman.edu/first/fmtp.htm) where you run three times a week with cross-training three times a week, too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good running week! Happy 4th of July!
