I have been reading The Boxcar Children to my girls at bedtime. It was one of my favorites when I was younger. Based on their excitement to read it every night, and their new desire to live in a boxcar, I think they inherited my love of the series.
I wasn't a runner until after I had my first kiddo, so this part of the book didn't have much of an impact the first time I read it. But it made me smile this time. Princess Grace suggested I take a picture of it and post it on my website. She knows me well.
And tonight we had a family fro-yo night. That flavor on the right is PUMPKIN!! Apparently the season of all things pumpkin has officially begun.
And last week's workouts:
- Sunday - rest day
- Monday - 4.5 mile run
- Tuesday - 5.3 mile run; core workout
- Wednesday - 4.2 mile run
- Thursday - 4.5 mile run; 25 minutes cycling; upper & lower body strength
- Friday - 60 minutes elliptical
- Saturday - 9 mile run; 30 mins total body strength
What was your favorite book or series as a kid? I also liked the Sweet Valley Twins and Sweet Valley High series. I told you I'm cool!
Do you like pumpkin flavored everything? I do! I could eat pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and pumpkin bread every day. And I have been known to eat pumpkin chocolate chip cookies for breakfast.
My mom saved all my boxcar children books (I also have all the romona books and like 1 trillion RL Stein books - I have always loved a good mystery/horror book) and now Anna has been reading them and loving them. Weird how so many of the books/shows our kids (and us) liked involved life without parents. Why is that? lol. For a while when Annabelle would play house with her friends they would always say how their parents were dead. I was like, hey now? What did I ever do to you. Then I realized how prevalent that is in stores and shows, so maybe that is why? Or maybe she hates me. But I am telling myself it is the other reason ;) And those notes make you cool, not old. And so does that fro yo. Mmmmm. pumpkin.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I LOVED Boxcar children as a kid!! One of my favorites! :0) Great job this week with your workouts!
ReplyDeleteIt has been fun reading them again as an adult!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks! It's nice to be running so much again :-)
We have most of the Ramona books, but I never read the RL Stein books.
ReplyDeleteAnd my girls pretend the parents are dead a lot too. So sad. I try not to take it too personal. I can promise it's not because she hates you. That's pretty much impossible for anyone. You are literally unhateable (I'm making that a word).
And whenever you are ready venture out for fro-yo, with or without kiddos, I'm there. You are my only hope since Janae and Heather aren't eating sugar these days.
I am So sorry that we're not eating sugar right now! It's killing me :-) especially that picture of the pumpkin fro yo! :( sigh.... 14 more days. Almost there. Let's please go as soon as this is all over with and get some pumpkin fr
ReplyDeletePumpkin fro yo together! We have been so bad with reading this summer! Emma and I have read a little bit of Harry Potter together but that's it. Been too busy playing. I need to take your example and read to them more :-) were usually good but summers been rough. I love Sweet Valley high! And I love to choose your own adventure books and ghostwriter books
