September is Runnerd Month

I put together the list for the Runnerd Photo-A-Day contest/event/whatever you want to call it.

Here are the rules:
  • Leave a comment letting me know you are going to participate.
  • Post a photo that reflects the word of the day somehow. You can post on Instagram, Twitter and/or Facebook. Your images should be running or training or health/fitness related.
  • On Twitter, make sure you include the hashtag #runnerdphotoaday with each post.
  • On Facebook, be sure to follow the Runnerd page and include @runnerds in the comment for your picture.
  • On Instagram, become my friend (ihaverun) and include @ihaverun in your comment.
  • You will receive one entry for each picture you post (up to 30 entry possibilities). I can only count the entry if it is linked back to me somehow, otherwise I won't know about it.
  • I am ordering the Runnerd prizes this week. There will be at least five prize winners, selected by Random.org at the beginning of October. I will post the list of prizes once I know exactly what they are.
To receive extra entries, you can invite others to join the Runnerd Photo-A-Day fun before it begins on Saturday. You will receive one extra entry for each place you post (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and/or your blog). That's up to 4 extra entries total. Be sure to let me know you shared the Runnerd Photo-a-Day love so you get the extra entries!

Be creative. We don't want everyone doing the same thing with their pics. If I absolutely love your pic and post it on my blog during the month, you'll get an extra entry.

And don't worry if you miss a day or don't start on day one. I want this to be fun!

  15. Just starting today! This is a great idea to inspire and motivate me to get myself back in gear. I really enjoyed your use of creativity by bringing in popular social media outlets like twitter and instagram. I just purchased a Pedometer Online to track my progress. I am sure I will use my Pedometer for the technology post on Sept. 20th. I hope this idea gets mentioned in a running magazine. You deserve the credit!

Social Media: Some good, a lot of bad, and way too much ugly

There are a lot of good things that come from social media. We can connect with people we have lost touch with. We can unite as a group (runners!!) with a comment interest. We can promote a good cause. Sadly though, what social media does best is makes us feel bad about ourselves and makes us feel negatively towards others. This isn't just my opinion, although I can unquestionably support the truth behind this based on my own experience. I have spent way too much time feeling bad about myself as a result of comparing myself to others based on their Instagram or Facebook versions of themselves. And there are several people I have started feeling negatively about or have become completely annoyed with because of their IG and FB posts. It isn't just me though. There are actual studies that can back me up on the negative impact social media can have. I have read dozens of articles reviewing many different studies that show the overwhelmingly negative (vs. positive) effec

Carpet Burn On My Butt (and a giveaway)

After two lame, pathetic, lackluster weeks of running, I woke up excited to run yesterday. And today, I wore my running clothes all morning in anticipation of my nap time run today. Even in spite of sore glutes and tired quads from getting in some P90X Core Synergistics last night, I couldn't wait to get moving on Millie. I am a planner. Today I had a plan to get my run in while my girls slept, and my day was organized accordingly. I am also a creature of habit. The first thing I do when I roll out of bed every single day is make my bed and my girls' beds. If I do something else first, it throws off the entire morning. I am a creature of habit when it comes to my running routines as well. There are a few things that differ depending on whether I am running on Millie or outside, whether my girls are asleep or not, and whether or not they are joining me in the jogger. Yet, no matter when, where, how far or with whom I run, some things are always the same. My hair goes into a pon

Raindrops on roses...not so much

I ran 15 miles on Saturday and a barefoot mile today (in addition to four in shoes), but why talk about those things when I can share some of my favorite random things, thanks to Rachelle tagging me! Favorite Thing to Photograph My girls (although I actually didn't take this picture) Favorite Thing to Cook Cupcakes, cookies, brownies. I'm all about the baked goods, mostly because they are my favorite thing to EAT. Favorite Way to Exercise Running, of course Favorite Movie I love movies and have a lot of favorites, but this has been a constant on my list. Favorite Article of Clothing I was going to say jeans, because I could wear jeans every single day. But I could survive without wearing jeans for a week. I couldn't survive without my running shoes for a week. Favorite Flower Tulips Favorite Breakfast French toast! Favorite Cartoon Character I love Rapunzel and Flynn and Belle and the frog in Gnomeo and Juliet. I could probably list about 20
