After two lame, pathetic, lackluster weeks of running, I woke up excited to run yesterday. And today, I wore my running clothes all morning in anticipation of my nap time run today. Even in spite of sore glutes and tired quads from getting in some P90X Core Synergistics last night, I couldn't wait to get moving on Millie. I am a planner. Today I had a plan to get my run in while my girls slept, and my day was organized accordingly. I am also a creature of habit. The first thing I do when I roll out of bed every single day is make my bed and my girls' beds. If I do something else first, it throws off the entire morning. I am a creature of habit when it comes to my running routines as well. There are a few things that differ depending on whether I am running on Millie or outside, whether my girls are asleep or not, and whether or not they are joining me in the jogger. Yet, no matter when, where, how far or with whom I run, some things are always the same. My hair goes into a pony
"She finished the marathon in 6 hours, 25 minutes and 50 seconds. Not her personal best, but she did beat her husband."
ReplyDeleteTalk about being chicked!
Wow - I read the article thinking how wonderful it was that she was so healthy, and what a great gift to give to her daughter, and how I would like to be that healthy when I get pregnant again - instead of obese and unhealthy like I am - and started reading through the comments. I am amazed at all the people trying to burn her at the stake for even thinking about doing such a thing, She had permission from her doctors, she was a runner before and had trained for it healthfully for 9 months... I would put her under the category of good mom, not evil mom.
ReplyDeleteI say if you follow the dr.'s orders that's ok I know a lot of my friends that have kept running through out their pregnancy are usually given a heart rate they can't go above. Personally I probably would have freaked out just cause of it being so close.
ReplyDeleteoh wow! I just read that, so crazy.
ReplyDeleteSeems a little late in the pregnancy to be "trying" this. But I've never had a child so maybe it's fine. I think she took the whole "inducing labor by walking" thing a little far!
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people just don't understand that as long as you've been doing an activity you can continue as long as your doctor says it's safe. It seems like she did all the right things. Walk/running is a great way to continue your fitness while you're pregnant. I wish I could have done that. I was really sick and was on bed rest. I think she's awesome!
ReplyDeleteWow. I don't know that running with active contractions is the best idea, but that does sound like a great pain management technique!
ReplyDeletei saw this earlier on FB and have yet to read the comments...but honestly I think she is incredible for doing that + inspiring to continue to put health and fitness at such a high importance even through her pregnancy!
ReplyDeleteThe fitness is always important but a marathon .... is long, better not to risk.
ReplyDeleteHowever everything went well, it means that she was right.
Personally, I'd never run a marathon while pregnant, but I'm not going to condemn her for doing it.
ReplyDeleteI do love that she beat her husband...
I have to give props to her, but REALLY? I'm all about life and risking my baby for a marathon... not for me.
ReplyDeleteok. I dont think this was ok. even if she was healthy. I think this was crazy and also a bit irresponsible. I dont admire what she did but I am glad she and her baby are ok.
ReplyDeleteMy body can't handle even walking when pregnant!
ReplyDeleteBut that doesn't mean everyone else is the same. If she got the OK from the doc, she's been training, why not? It's amazing what our bodies can do when they are working properly!
