It's hard to believe it is already Thursday. But it is, so let's get to it.
- While running errands, I ended up driving part of the route for the Utah Valley Half Marathon. It will be a beautiful run that covers several miles that I travel on a pretty regular basis and then passes by my Alma mater. There is just something a little extra exciting about running "at home."
- I have been pretty tired, both sleepy tired and just plain worn out, this week. It hasn't stopped me from running though. Monday I did six hill intervals, two minutes each, on the treadmill. Total run = 4 miles. Yesterday I ran 5 miles in 47:17, with three miles @ 9:05.
- A while ago, I read in Runner's World that you can shave 5:27 off your marathon time by losing five pounds, so I have a goal to weigh five pounds less by marathon day, which is October 2. I'm not going to wait until August to start trying though. Trying starts NOW!
RUN: I have an easy four miles on the schedule tonight. I'm going to try out my new shoes. I'll let you know what I think tomorrow. (I'll also be announcing the giveaway winner and talking about my weekend racing plans!)
Utah Valley Half Marathon - brought to you by Sizzler. I can only assume that Sizzler is big in Utah...
ReplyDeleteSounds like a gorgeous 1/2!
ReplyDeleteHave I mentioned yet just how much I love the new look? K just needed to make sure.
ReplyDeleteSo anywho, i guess I'll need to be dropping about 100lbs to qualify for boston..of course then I'll only be like 30lbs, which means I will be a head and upper torso so this may not work
I read that too. I know that if I weigh less I will run faster. My goal is to lose 10 pounds before my race in August.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the shoes, and the pounds. I wonder if it would show a noticeable different in a triathlon.
ReplyDeleteReally? Wonder if I can lose like 50 pounds? :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome that you drove the course early. I love driving the courses so I can see ahead of time what I am up against.
Oh, I'm worn out, too... what's up with that?
ReplyDeleteI have read about the 5 pound thing. it is worth a shot and you can definitely do it by October! Great job getting the runs in! Sometimes just getting the run in makes it worth being a little extra tired!
ReplyDeleteI am beyond tired too! I probably could fall asleep now and not wake up until next week.
ReplyDeleteGood luck losing the 5 lbs. I am trying to lose some weight too, maybe I will get faster? Keep us informed.
Running close to home is esp. nice. Utah is such a gorgeous state!
ReplyDeleteI'm doing the Utah Valley marathon this year. So excited. I like that 5 pound thing!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a great course! I'm wishing I had signed up... good luck with the new shoes. I think the 5 lbs will melt away during your training. Are you running St. George?
ReplyDeleteSo - I want to shave 47 minutes off my marathon time. Does that mean I should lose about 47 pounds? Ha, ha ... just kidding. But seriously, I need to shave some major minutes off my marathon time coming up in November. It's serious speed work time for me!!
ReplyDeleteI've been on a quest to drop some fat ever since I read that each pound of weight lost shaves 2 seconds per mile off of your pace. 5 pounds = 10 seconds/mile. Doesn't make much difference in a 5k, but for a marathon.....
ReplyDeleteSounds so pretty!I have heard great things about that race.
