This week's Take It and Run Thursday is Running Fireworks, running related conflict, controversy and commotion, in honor of the 4th of July. The first thing that came to my mind was potty stops. I've had several discussions, both with runners and non-runners, about the inconvenience of needing to go when running, particularly during a race. When I first heard that people (intentionally) pee on themselves during marathons, I thought twice about signing up for my first. Horror stories about the port-a-potties haven't helped. And I can honestly admit I am already worried about being in the "gotta-go" situation during my first marathon. So now you know what causes controversy and commotion in my running world. Potty stops are my running fireworks. If you have any relevant advice or comments, please share!!
After two lame, pathetic, lackluster weeks of running, I woke up excited to run yesterday. And today, I wore my running clothes all morning in anticipation of my nap time run today. Even in spite of sore glutes and tired quads from getting in some P90X Core Synergistics last night, I couldn't wait to get moving on Millie. I am a planner. Today I had a plan to get my run in while my girls slept, and my day was organized accordingly. I am also a creature of habit. The first thing I do when I roll out of bed every single day is make my bed and my girls' beds. If I do something else first, it throws off the entire morning. I am a creature of habit when it comes to my running routines as well. There are a few things that differ depending on whether I am running on Millie or outside, whether my girls are asleep or not, and whether or not they are joining me in the jogger. Yet, no matter when, where, how far or with whom I run, some things are always the same. My hair goes into a pony
I had an accident on my First Marathon and would have LOVED to have a toilet anywhere in sight...no such luck!! Next time I would drop trow on the race because I think it is TOTALLY acceptable, especially in my case I was in a dark tunnel... UGH!! Anyhow, I could live without this running issue, thankfully I have the other end under control.. YUCK!!
ReplyDeleteuggh! Well since we are talking potty...I HATE that i get pre race anxiety and can't , well, GO before I leave for the race! Then sure enough a mile in I'm looking EVERYWHERE for a portapotty. Gotta love it!!
ReplyDeleteIn my first marathon or so I did have to stop to use the porta-potty. During the last couple, I haven't had to stop, though. It seems like my body has gotten used to running long and not stopping for that most of the time.
