It's interesting what you see when you take a minute to look around. Last week Bean and I met Scott at a park for lunch. As I pulled out of the parking lot to head home, I noticed this:
When was the last time you saw a teeter-totter (aka seesaw) at a park?!? There is not one to be found at THIS park. And I can't tell you the last time I saw one at any park. If I had to guess, I'd say it was when I was in elementary school. I'm pretty sure they are considered unsafe and have slowly disappeared, sadly taking their most awesome park companion, the merry-go-round, with them.
I'm not sure why someone felt the need to label the park sign with an image. I'm thinking anyone who can't read would still know this was a park. The playground 20 feet away kind of gives it away. But if you are going to try to label a park using an image in 2014, maybe go with a picture of a slide. Pretty much every park has a slide. A teeter-totter, not so much.
