I have been mixing it up a little when I run lately. I'm not talking about my actual running though. Here's a peek at what I have been doing differently:
1/2 mile warm-up
4 x 400m @ 2:09 with 400m recovery
1 x 400m @ 2:00
1/2 mile cool down
Speedwork is another reason the treadmill isn't so bad. I can actually run my last 400m faster than the others because the treadmill doesn't let me slack off.
I normally like to take a day off or crosstrain between runnning days (another effort to stay injury free), but my littlest midge is getting tubes in her ears tomorrow so I didn't want to have to think about or plan on doing anything else. I know getting tubes is supposedly "not a big deal," but it is surgery and when it's your baby it becomes a big deal.
- Wearing my hair in a braid. I am enjoying the fact that my ponytail isn't constantly hitting my back or sides of my head. I might even get adventurous and try two braids.
- Using the foam roller before and after each run (and sometimes during). In the past I just used it after. Since my knees still bother me off and on, this is part of my effort to stay injury free.
- Covering the display on the treadmill when I run (except during speedwork). The time and distance seem to go much faster now.

Happy Wednesday and happy running!!
Good luck with the surgery tomorrow! I hope things are uneventful and that she recovers quickly.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest got tubes, also. What a difference! It's been almost two years and he's been ear infection-free since. The worst part was when the nurse took him from us to get the procedure done. It was hard on him and on us! He looked so scared. So be prepared for that...
ReplyDeleteI hope all goes well and she has success staying infection-free! :)
LOVE running with braid! Also, treadmill is the ONLY way I can do speedwork, unless I go running with someone faster than me! But good job girl :)
ReplyDeleteI hope all goes well with the surgery tomorrow. My youngest got tubes and the ear infections disappeared (and I was very skeptical before the surgery.) It was over in less than 10 minutes, and he was back to himself by late afternoon.
ReplyDeleteGood luck today!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wear my hair in a braid, the bottom fastener always slips off. I have really fine hair and have to put at least 2-3 on just for a pony tail! So frustrating! I bet you look adorable with two braids!!!!
I always cover the treamill display on tempo runs! I can't stand how slow it moves when I watch it! My son had tubes. It is definitely a BIG DEAL when it's your baby! Hope it goes well!
ReplyDeleteI've need to cover the treadmill display or else I can't tear my eyes away from it and the time just crawls by.
ReplyDeleteI've got to get myself a foam roller, I keep hearing about them from so many people..good luck with your daughter's procedure tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteTubes, SCARY!! I love the braid myself..
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting the logo :)
I loved that your 'mixing it up' meant wearing your hair differently! I love that kind of runner.
ReplyDeleteI'm like that too.
Momshomerun
hope all is well with the little one!
ReplyDeleteI love mixing things up and keeping it fresh, running or otherwise! Ohh don't forget to update your HBBC points
